The House
by Cool Hand Luke
(If you have never listened to this song, please download it on iTunes for 99 cents. It will be worth it)
Naked I came with nothing to show
You gave me everything that I call my own
I have nothing to give that wasn't given me
You're able to see so much more than I can find in me
You brought me from the womb
You made me trust in You (Psalm 22:9)
You, O God
I need You
When I was in chains, I thought that I was free
But ages before I was even born, you called to me
To turn me loose from all the fear and all the doubt
My heart's not big enough to hold all of this love,
but you keep pouring out
You brought me from the womb
You made me trust in You
You, O God
I need You
Irresistible, You're irresistible
Yours are the only hands that can heal me
You brought me from the womb
You made me trust in You
You, O God
I need You
God
I need You

sometimes life hurts
They say people can tell what you believe by how you live. The only problem is, sometimes living what you believe hurts. A lot.
Life turns into a constant battle against selfishness. Sometimes when we feel wronged, we just want to walk away from it all. But if we stop and probe a little deeper, that's not what we actually desire at all. We simply want to be free from the pain.
Forgiveness. Compassion. Selflessness. They all look good on paper. They sting in reality. They pull us reluctantly from our self-interest. They pry our greedy hands from the things we think we deserve. They force us to give up things we might deserve. I guess that's where forgiveness comes in. Not settling the score, even though 100 other people in our place would jump at the chance.
